I agree nobody should give up their genome for public research unless they know exactly how their privacy is preserved and they receive some type of benefit from it. For example, a person could learn more important information related to their genes in health and disease, or a person could get rewarded financially for letting other research their genome sequences. In both cases, they should be assured that their genome data only stays with the researcher.
patybKeymasterThey do not sell Direct-to-consumer metabolomics yet, probably because the biotechnology used (LC-MS, GC-MS or NMR) is too complex and expensive for samples from a single person. But in the field of metabolomics research, a scientist can choose to run untargeted or targeted metabolomics, he can therefore choose how much information he wants with how much confidence.
patybKeymasterAfter you send your sample, a few weeks later you can see the results on the 23andme web site. For ancestry you will see a chart like https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3032/13058306123_0ac971918b_o.png

patybKeymasterAlthough that link for the minion is from 2012, the price is about the same: https://nanoporetech.com/products/comparison
patybKeymasterIn untargeted metabolomics you can profile hundreds to thousands of metabolites
In targeted metabolomics you can profile 1000-3000 on average but with high confidence probably less.patybKeymasterLook for online calculators of Mandalian genotype inheritance of traits . Look for Punnett Square Calculator.
But both 1) and 2) are 0% because there was no C allele in either parent.patybKeymasterIt may take a few weeks to 2 months to receive the results
patybKeymasterGreat question! Prices are going down but it is still expensive. $599 At Veritas Genetics https://www.veritasgenetics.com/
Nebula Genomics Offers FREE Whole Genome Sequencing to Customers Willing to Allow Their Data Be Used by Researchers for Drug DevelopmentpatybKeymasterGenotyping uses SNP microarrays, it only looks at certain positions (bases or single nucleotide polymorphisms – SNP) in the genome, for example 23andme looks at about half a million positions but the human genome has 3 billion positions. Gene expression is something completely different. It describes what the genes do. Genes get expressed and then transcribed into proteins. To measure Gene Expression, one measures mRNA molecules through transcriptomics
