Anyone know how long it takes to sequence an entire bacterial genome using standard lab equipment?

Can you clarify what you mean by standard lab equipment? Standard for a facility that sequences genomes is nothing like standard lab equipment in a wet-lab.

standard lab equipment (running sequencing gels )

The sequencing never took long, usually around 9-12 hours depending on how long the sequence was. The problem with our stuff was, if you didn’t get everything exactly right, you’d be missing a few nucleotides here and there

I think you need to know how many manhours since it can be done by several groups at once; also it depends on how big the genome is (in base pairs).

also you can Google “bacteria genome length” and “sequencing manhours per base pair” and do the math

Couple days depending on how fast you get your results back after you do all the experimentation parts.
