I was reading a few articles and I can’t make out if this is true or not. I have a little one on the way now so I am a bit paranoid. I read that most US states run hospitals that collect DNA samples from newborns without the parents even being made aware. I know that getting DNA tested is way cheaper than it once was several years ago so I am wondering if this is true and what purpose it serves.
It’s not happening yet, however the U.S. National Institute of Health have been exploring the idea of using DNA sequencing to screen newborn babies for genetic abnormalities and disorders
